The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education

The body of work that Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais developed is known as the Feldenkrais Method.

The Feldenkrais Method uses the entire body to improve the quality of life, not by pushing the muscles to do more and more, but by engaging the whole individual in unique and novel ways. The result is that the brain becomes fully alive and available in ever-increasing spirals of possibilities.

Movement, awareness, sensation, environment and results are the vehicles we use in this work.

A client or student can experience the work in two ways: individual sessions known as Functional Integration® and group classes referred to as Awareness Through Movement®. In private or group classes, you will explore working in the imagination and the breath, functional aspects such as reading, reaching and standing up, and even preparations for better running, jumping, judo rolls, or headstands. Injury recovery is also a common and appropriate application of this work. You can read much more about the Method at the national guild website.
